Get your vocal cords warmed up and start practicing your singing in the shower, because we’re getting ready to celebrate the Hong Kong Sevens’ Greatest Hits with The Wailers and Journey’s Arnel Pineda.
Music has always had a special place at Hong Kong Stadium, and there’s nothing better than the sight (and sound!) of 40,000 fans belting out their favourite tunes as one. We’re thrilled to be welcoming two incredible acts that we know will get the stadium JAMMIN’!
The Wailers, the legendary Jamaican reggae band, have earned their place in the chronicles of music history. Led by Aston Barrett Jr, whose father “Familyman” and uncle Carlton were original founding members, The Wailers continue to preserve the legacy of that iconic sound. Sevens fans will get to experience the magic of their timeless classics and incredible cuts from Bob Marley’s vast repertoire in a set that is truly unforgettable, including Stadium favourites such as Three Little Birds, Could You Be Loved, and One Love.
In 2007 when Journey, one of the world’s best-selling rock bands of all time, were looking for a new lead singer they came across Youtube footage of a Filipino singer who had cut his teeth playing in the bars and clubs of Lan Kwai Fong – Arnel Pineda. Since then Arnel and Journey have played to sold-out stadiums across the globe, and now he’s coming back to shake the South Stand with his own band, AMMO, performing Journey classics Don’t Stop Believin’ and Anyway You Want It along with a great selection of other Sevens ‘Greatest Hits’.
Tickets for the next Sevens (5-7 April 2024) will be available for general sale from 1 December at hksevens.com – they won’t last long, so be in quick to join us for this special festival of music, sports and culture.
