The Wailers Support War Child with a One-of-a-Kind Guitar
Music can reach places that words and medicine cannot. That belief has always sat at the heart of The Wailers’ music – and it’s exactly what led the band to team up with War Child, an organization dedicated to protecting children affected by war and conflict.
Worldwide, one in five children grows up in a war or conflict zone – whether in Ukraine, the Middle East, or Sudan. War Child provides these children with protection, education, and mental health support, using innovative, playful, and creative methods that help them process their experiences and build resilience for the future. Getting a child out of a war zone is one thing – healing the war within is another. What sets War Child apart is that all of its methods are evidence-based, with proven impact.
Moments That Matter
War Child launched “Moments That Matter,” a campaign inviting well-known artists to raffle off unique fan experiences in support of children affected by war and displacement. The Wailers joined the initiative alongside Mumford & Sons and Sum 41 – each contributing something truly special, with every entry purchased going directly toward War Child’s work in places like Ukraine, South Sudan, and Lebanon.
The Wailers’ contribution was a guitar unlike any other: a Duesenberg “Calypso” in a custom reggae design – the only one of its kind anywhere in the world. Raffled off through VIPrize, the prize package included the guitar itself, VIP concert tickets, and a meet & greet with the band.
A Night to Remember in Hamburg
On July 31, 2026, as part of the “50 Years of Positive Vibrations” tour, The Wailers brought the campaign to a close in Hamburg. The evening began with a warm welcome through the guest entrance, setting the tone for what was to come.
The highlight followed shortly after: an exclusive meet & greet, where the band personally signed and presented the one-of-a-kind guitar to Alexandra, the campaign’s winner. A film crew from Germany’s NDR was on hand to capture the moment.
